Vote. Certify. Elect!

In an event that normally doesn’t receive nearly this much attention, the Electoral College votes today, in the third phase of our Presidential election process!

But because it doesn’t normally receive this much attention, it may have escaped notice that there is more to the process, to take place between now and Inauguration Day. And in this particular year, that includes a runoff election for Georgia’s two Senate seats, that could tie up a 50/50 Senatorial split, tilting to the Democrats’ side of the aisle only with the help of President-elect of the Senate, Kamala Harris. The electoral votes are due to be counted by Congress the day after Georgia’s runoff. Early voting for the runoff also begins today, and could include new voters who hadn’t yet turned eighteen on Election Day.

Considering where this election has already been, there is certainly time for more oddities. As we have, America will, and should, be watching our elected officials very closely.

Update: All of the President-elect’s original 306 electoral votes were cast by the Electoral College, as were all of the President’s original 232. The 46th President of the United States, to be inaugurated January 20, is officially Joe Biden.
