Put this in your pocket.

Do you need a little bit of joy? I came across this article in the New York Times last month, and maybe you saw it too. If you did, surely you’ll want to see it again. If not, you’ll want to see it again too. It contains one of the world’s oldest film clips, a Lumière brothers film of a snowball fight on the streets of Lyon, France, in 1896 or 1897. You can view both the original black-and-white version, and a touched-up color version, with music added. But more importantly, you can view 1897.

I’d also recommend looking into some more Lumière films, some of the first made. They are surreal and mesmerizing (note: the audio is added, and at times very trippy). If you feel like you need a little bit of a transport today, here it is.

If you feel like you need some encouragement, we have that too.
